Registering your account
Turning the Client ID and Client code you were emailed into a username and password of your own.
For new hires who have been sent a Client ID and Client code
Registration is the one-time step that creates your sign-in. You need two things from the email C2 sent you: a Client ID and a Client code. If you cannot find that email, check your spam folder, then ask your company's HR contact — they can send it again.
Start with the code from your email
On the sign-in screen, select Register here at the bottom. On the screen that follows, type in the Client ID and the Client code, check the box to accept the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy, and select Continue.
If the code is refused, the most common reason is that the email is old and the code has been reissued. Ask for a fresh one rather than retyping this one.
The four steps
Registration then walks through four screens. The dots at the top show where you are, and you can go back to a step you have already passed by selecting its dot.
- Personal — your name, birth date, Social Security Number, marital status and gender.
- Contact — your home street address (not a P.O. box), apartment or suite, city, state and postal (ZIP) code.
- Employment — your work location (and your hire date, if it isn't already known), a note about E-Verify with a box to confirm you have read it, and — if you live and work in different states — whether to add the work state's tax withholding form to your required forms.
- Account Settings — the part that becomes your sign-in.
Some fields arrive already filled in and cannot be edited. That is deliberate: they come from what your company has already told C2, and they are the details your record is matched on.
Choosing a username and password
On the last step you set:
- a username — this is what you will type to sign in, and it is not necessarily your email address;
- a password;
- a personal email address and a mobile number, used to verify your account and to reach you about forms and benefits.
Your password needs all five of these:
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| At least 8 characters | — |
| A lowercase letter | a–z |
| An uppercase letter | A–Z |
| A number | 0–9 |
| A special character | !, @, #, ? |
Check the consent box and select Verify account.
What happens next
Most accounts then go straight to setting up a verification code — an authenticator app, or a code sent to you. That is multi-factor authentication, and for a new account it is not optional: it is the last step of registration rather than a screen you can skip.
Once it is done you are signed in, and from then on you sign in the ordinary way with the username and password you just chose.
