Choosing which profile to use
What the Select profile screen is asking, what the details on each card mean, and how to switch later.
For anyone whose details appear under more than one company
If your details appear under more than one company, signing in does not take you straight to the home screen. A screen titled Select profile appears first, listing each profile your account is attached to. Inactive profiles are hidden at first — select Show inactive profiles under the list to see them.
This is normal. It happens to anyone who has worked for two companies that both use C2, and to anyone whose record was created twice — for instance after a rehire.
What the cards show
Each card is one profile, and the details on it are there so you can tell two similar ones apart:
| On the card | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| The logo and company name | Whose payroll and documents you would be looking at |
| Active / Inactive | Whether that employment is current |
| Hire date | Which period of employment this is — the giveaway after rehire |
| Registration Id/Code | The pair C2 support will ask you to read out |
| Stage | Where that profile is in onboarding |
Select a card and you are in. Cancel takes you back to the sign-in screen without choosing.
Which one do I want?
- For anything about your pay or your documents now, pick the Active profile at the company you currently work for.
- For last year's W-2 or a document from a previous job, pick the profile whose hire date matches that job, inactive or not (select Show inactive profiles if it isn't listed).
If two cards look identical, the hire date is the difference. If they still look identical, read the Registration Id/Code to your C2 contact — that pair identifies one record exactly.
Switching after you are signed in
You do not have to sign out again. At the top of the sidebar is the card for the company you are signed in as, with a chevron on it; selecting it opens the list of your other profiles, and picking one switches you over.
The profile you are using is marked CURRENT. Inactive ones are tucked behind the Show inactive switch, so turn it on if the one you want is not listed.
